Modern technology and religion don't work - like recorded chants coming from mosque towers, and digital bells playing in churches, that microphone is too intrusive. Contra
I am not a Catholic, nor do I consider myself a particularly religious person; however, I do appreciate the world's religions and how they affect their followers. I believe this picture is worthy of Gallery on its own merit, but I truly appreciate how the moment is captured, not just the quality of the picture. Scan through the Gallery and you'll find scores of pictures that are there for their emotional as well as their aesthetic value. Yes, Gallery is for the best of the best, and to me this fits that criterium. If you do not agree, that's fine. That's why there are three choices in the voting.
As a piece of photographic journalism and judging it on that merit alone it is not outstanding. Thomas I thought this was about photography and the gallery was about the best of the best in photography. Certainly not about religion and 'sacred moments'.
I really want to vote Contra.. but instead I'll skip.
