Hello Darius. Thanks for taking the time to check out my website. In answer to your question, getting good long exposure shots is a real challenge, particularly when you are using film. With digital, you can see the results right away, but with film, there is the wait time. The amount of ambient light is the key factor. If the scene is primarily dark, you can expose for up to 4-5 hours. (night skys) In most scenes however, I find that 30 secends at mid aperture will provide lots of detail, saturation and streaking effects. There is no golden rule - its all trial and error.
