A propos de moi
http://www.christinielsen.com/blog/about2getskinny/
I began studying photography as an undergrad and am now pursuing my MFA in Arts & Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Although I still participate in gallery exhibitions, I have recently become interested in the rise of new media and its effects on the traditional economic model of galleries and museums. I'm currently building an international audience through new media and communications, including online publishing, online social networks, and virtual spaces.
However, the unescapable attraction to learning some new creative outlet has yet to pull me away from my obsession with photography.
Most of my work relates to the struggle with expectations placed upon women in contemporary society. This past year, the focus has been on body image and weight, but I feel myself being pulled into a broader examination of the female ideal. Who knows what's next?
All of my images thus far are self portraits. It's not a vanity thing. It began when I couldn't get a model to deliver what I wanted, so like anything else... "if you want it done right, do it yourself!"

i feel redundant saying this, but redundancy is the issue. you don't need a text explanation with your images. they tell the story...you tell the story with them; as a viewer and one certainly not among the skeletal elite, i want to connect with the images here and i don't need the words. maybe some do need them, but the people who are going to truly appreciate and feel a connection with your work need only the image. that said, obviously i feel something when i see your images...your profile portrait basically says it all and it's a messy pleasure to have found somebody who gets it, words, images and all. no of course a model won't deliver what you want, only you do that and you do it with a courage and passion to which i only hope to aspire. beautiful nightmares and a strong sense of self, bravo!nice to meet you,
