Blue Jacaranda (2)

My first shot of the Blue Jacaranda (see picture below) was taken 4 days before this one. As you can see, everyday more and more buds are opening into dazzling flowers on this striking tree.

Blue Jacaranda is a sub-tropical tree native to South America.
When in bloom, it’s a real beauty with clusters of fragrant, purple-blue, trumpet-shaped flowers.

The Blue Jacaranda has been cultivated for garden use in many parts of the world but can only survive in regions where there is no or a small risk of heavy frost (in winter only minimum temperatures down to -7°C are tolerated by the tree for a short period of several hours).

I've observed this particular tree here in Belgium for 12 years and now it’s the first time he came into flower, probably due to the very mild winter that we had.

Dutch name : Jacaranda
German name : Palisanderholzbaum
Latin name : Jacaranda mimosifolia
