This castle in French style was built in 1842 and is located in the midst of a vast estate that was property of Ernest Solvay (°)
The architect of the castle was inspired by the mighty castles that can be find in the French Loire area.

(°) : Ernest Solvay was a world famous very intelligent Belgian chemist and industrialist.
In 1863, he invented and patented a revolutionary ammonia-soda process for producing sodium carbonate which is still widely used today for glass, washing powder and flue gas cleaning.
About 70 Solvay factories are still operational worldwide nowadays.
