Controlled burn: Yosemite National Park
Continuing on my Yosemite series, this one documents a recent "controlled burn" at the park. That is NOT fog, but smokethat is seen in the picture. This is a controvertial practice that the Forest and the Parks Service engages in the Western U.S. to control overgrowth and to prevent large forest fires. It is not clear that the practice is successful. A few years ago, during a controlled burn in the Bandelier NP, things got out of hand and the city of Los Alamos got burned down in the process.
