Die Frau mit Schatten
I love shooting in the late afternoon sun of winter, when the shadows are long, well-defined, and often dramatic.
The photograph was made in Bad Mergentheim, Germany, on just such an afternoon.
The title, with respect to the great German composer Richard Strauss,
means "Woman with Shadow," after Strauss' opera "Die Frau ohne Schatten."
Guess Strauss' woman wasn't in Bad Mergenheim on this sunny winter afternoon, nicht wahr?
