Albania is mostly a mountainous country but with beautiful also shores in Adriatic sea that remained sealed for tourists and completely unexploited for more than half century especially during the period that the country remained in a strict communist grip from Enver Hoxha. After 1990 the country started surfacing...
The majority of villages are perched on mountains or slopes, very poor and with the locals struggling even for the bare everyday necessities.

what barren, "godforsaken" land!! what hardy and unwavering people it must take to settle in it, and literally blend into the rocky hill! an eye-opening image for me, alexander, as i must admit to know far too little about albania and its people! amazing, how this shot here differs in mood from "In Albania", the latter oozing magnificence, pride and glory, which i guess is due to the splendor of the mountain range, the light, and the naked tree branches reaching into the image in an almost protective way! greetings, sabine.Adele D. I like this composition here with the three layers ofinterest and the view from above making the town
look like it is filled with toy houses .... so barren
