Paisage Tetuán
Paisage Tetuán
The project Paisage Tetuán arose in Intermediæ, a space in the Matadero of Madrid (former slaughterhouse converted into arts centre) for the production of artistic projects based on experimentation and shared learning, which have been awarded by the Arts Department of Madrid City Council. The main aim is to connect artists, spaces, and networks, in order to stimulate new ways of involving different audiences in the world of art and culture.
Paisage Tetuán seeks to improve the urban landscape of Tetuán, and, consequently, it has brought interesting artistic interventions to its architectural and urban heritage. From impressive murals, photographs that bring back memories of the neighbourhood and its residents or an urban allotment.
Gonzalo Borondo’s mural intervention realized for Paisage Tetuán expresses criticism against the excesses of rulers. With a sober and mysterious style, the artist turns the walls into true visual poems. Born in Castille y Leon, we may say art has always run through Gonzalo's veins since his father was a restorer of religious art, and he started drawing when he was a child. Ever since he's been able to express with an amazing realism different faces of people. In his artworks you will always find an open interpretation of the relationship between the location and the artwork itself.
