Preßnitztalbahn at Steinbach
Under close supervision of her Zugführer (conductor) and Lokführer (engine driver), this trusty steam locomotive of the Preßnitztalbahn narrow gauge railway is serviced at Steinbach bei Jöhstadt on this wintry day in 2008. Once her water and coal supplies are topped off, and the oil can applied where needed, she will pick up her train and depart for the trip through the pine forests to the terminus at Jöhstadt.
The Preßnitztalbahn is a 750-mm narrow gauge steam powered line in the Erzgebirge region of eastern Germany.
Vielen Dank to my friend, driver and guide for this vist, fellow F-C photographer Thomas Reitzel.

another beautiful shot of the preßnitztalbahn! i just love the nostalgic, almost "fairy-tale-like" mood of this shot! when i first looked at the thumbnail, the building of the tiny train station (?) looked exactly like my "mental image" ; )) of hansel and gretel's "pfefferkuchenhaus"! beautiful with the steam "puffing away" from the engine and all those "busy boys" ( a boys' world, isn't it ; ))?) pampering the old lady and making her function! greetings, sabine. p.s. it goes so well with the other shot, too, because in this one it already seems to be starting to snow…
