The Liberties, Dublin, Ireland

The Liberties is a Dublin workers' quarter located around the Guinness brewery. The name derives from feudal jurisdictions dating back to the arrival of Anglo-Normans in the 12th century. They were country lands united to the city that retained their jurisdiction (from which "freedom").
