The Living Forest (14) : Foxglove.
Last weeks I was exploring several forests in the Belgian Ardennes.
This is the 14th. picture of a series illustrating the living forest.
In the summertime many wild flowers are growing in the forest, like this Foxglove.
The entire plant is poisonous (including the roots and seeds), although the leaves of the upper stem are particularly potent, with just a nibble being enough to potentially cause death !!!
Dutch name : Vingerhoedskruid
German name : Roter Fingerhut
Latin name : Digitalis purpurea
