Time to move on once more. Included, Birthday Surprise Story!!!
Monday 21st January.
Hello all, yesterday was my birthday, I awoke at 3.45am and no news from anyone regarding birthday wishes yet.
So jokingly, I wrote myself a birthday card and e-mailed it off.
At about 6.30 am I checked my email and received one from my middle Sisters followed by another from my eldest Sister, both in Africa.
Yes and I received the one I emailed myself as well.
My mates came around and we went down-town for the day.
I purchased a number of DVD’s and we went for a Sunday roast at a local bar.
Later we sat down watching the local folks going about their daily routines outside a large supermarket.
At 4.30 we returned to our hotel and sat outside relating a few tales.
What happened next blew me away, along came my nurse Off on her motorbike; she hopped off and handed me a huge bouquet of pink roses with tiny white background flowers.
In a midst the roses was a card which read; “Happy Birthday my dear”
I asked how she knew it was my birthday; she told me she had seen it in my medical file.
Accompanied by the flowers and card was a punet of strawberries, which were for me as well.
To say that the Thai’s are kind gentle beings is an understatement.
Just how lucky am I??
On Wednesday I am heading south to Nakorn Ratchasima “Korat”, some five hours drive from Udon Thani and about 260 km northeast of Bangkok.
Korat is the largest province in Issan and is known as the gateway to Issan country.
Korat pays tribute to a military hero, her name was Khunying Mo, who was the wife of the deputy Governor, during the reign of The King Rama 111, and Khunying Mo led her villagers into battle against Chao Anuwong from Vientiane, Laos.
He was apparently on his way back to attack Bangkok.
Her sheer determination, led them to the victory over the Laos.
Now I have no idea of the accommodation there or the availability of internet service, so I am not sure when I will be back on.
I wish you all good health and happiness, my friends.
Walkabout John. S/E/Asia.
