A fake... Venezzia
Greece
Aegean Sea
Cyklades
Island of Mykonos
The Small Venezzia
Dedicated to Adriana Lissandrini (...asking also for apologies!)
Maybe the most photographed, the most visited and, surely, the most commercially promoted site among the Greek islands. Longing for creating our own Venezzia we selected this picturesque site of the island of Mykonos, where the houses are build on the sea shore eternally soaked by the agitated sea and eternally shaked by the fierce winds blowing and quite..impertinently we gave to it the name of Small Venezzia! The houses are owned by "eminent" and by media advertised lifestyle personalities with their prices skyrocketing!....Anyway, the island remains and will remain for ever entrapped in its glorious past fate, as a place most visited in the fifties and sixties by kings, VIP's,movie stars, politicians etc, etc, etc It is very beautiful ,yes but also with all the defects of a spoiled diva star!
A little piece of advise. Avoid visiting the island in the months of Jyly and August, unless you are less than thirty or you want voluntarily to be drifted ina spell of a sparkling lifestyle!...

Great capture or a dramatic scene! The b&w gives even more drama to the setting. Must be a wonderful view from outside the houses.Greetings,
Sabine

Mykonos, famous for one of the most photogenic, well known for its beautiful windmills and the white / blue colors. I can well imagine how the place is crawling to high season of people. Too many people for such a small island.Your black / white photo looks very dramatic but also great!
Best wishes

Thanks dear Alexander of this pleasant dedication!it would be bad if Venice had a sea so impetuous, poor pilings on which she is located (miraculously still standing!) As always, your photos are so well done and to be admired and very comprehensive descriptions.
But Venice is unparalleled ...
caro saluto Adriana

As a race we have always been prone to building by the sea... but this close.... on the beach.... it is utter lunacy to me. What will happen if, as predicted, the seas rise due to global warming.........The mind boggles, but... it has made a superb and exciting picture.

Super picture about this ecological and cultural waste caused by men !! JérômeCarlo.Pollaci 20/05/2015 7:10
Splendi visione, impreziosita dal tuo forte e inimitabile bianco-nero.Simpatico l'accostamento a Venezia, città nei secoli scorsi dominatrice dei mari e con profondi legami con il mondo bizantino.
Un caro saluto,
Carlo

so close to the ocean - the waves crashing right up on to the houses ... curious that these houses were to resemble Venice's architecture, but no doubt fascinating for tourists ... your image well composed, dramatic this scene looking as if the flood was about to carry away the buildings !!!greetings, Adele
