Aurora over Tussøya
There was a short but spectacular aurora outbreak this evening. The precipitating particles were sufficiently energetic to give a nice red color to the bands. A bit of moonlight added a deep blue color to the sky. However, some haze prevented recording the finest details of the aurora.
The picture is taken with a Nikon D700 camera and a Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8 lens shot wide open at the wide end, exposure time 5 seconds and ISO 1600.
