Broadway Traffic Signal under Manhattan Valley 1 Train Viaduct

Traffic signal on Broadway at 125th Street casts a strong
shadow in the brilliant sunlight of a December afternoon.

Towering over the signal is the Manhattan Valley viaduct, which carries the
three tracks of the [IRT] 1 Train, into 125th Street station above Broadway. (*)

The impressive 2,174-foot-long (663 m) elevated structure (**) carries the Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line
high above the natural valley that surrounds 125th Street in the western reaches of Harlem where it blends
into the Manhattanville and Morningside Heights neighborhoods.
