Cats Eye's Brother
This was taken with a Nikon D-100, a Nikon 28-70mm lense at a focal length of 70mm, with a +4 close-up lense, F/22, shutter speed of 1/6 sec, with a tripod. I am learning how to gage depth of field and aperture settings using my camera in total manual. I felt I had too shallow a depth of field for the last snakes I shot through glass, so I went out and shot some more. I did better this time I think.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment on my photo and say such nice things. Chip, it is nice to hear what specifically you liked about it.Celal, I use a tripod 98% of the time, no matter what I shoot. I have a tripod that has legs that will go any direction and almost flat. I also use my backpack camera bag to lay on a shelf or on the ground to give me stability, and I use a remote shutter release cord so as not to jar the camera at all.

but how u get it with a tripod???? close ups i ve never done with a tripod, cause its so difficult.....or isn`t it??

Very good on the depth of field. The entire head is clearly in focus with the body of the snake softly fading. Just right on the contrast and sharpness as well. Great snake picture! Congrats Chip
