Die Heimat in einem anderen Licht

Dass Nordlichter zu sehen sein sollten war am Abend des 11.5.24 vermutlich kein großes Geheimnis mehr. Als mich dann um noch-hell-draußen-19-Uhr die Nachricht erreichte, dass der Sonnensturm "gerade einschlägt" war mein erster Gedanke "na toll, wenn es dann irgendwann dunkel ist, ist auch die Show vorbei".
!!! Aber !!!
Es ist erst vorbei, wenn es wirklich vorbei ist.

Dabei blieb ich auch an diesem Abend, packte meine Sachen und suchte mir einen schönen Ort
- diesen See, Teich oder Tümpel, man kann diskutieren -
und wartete dort auf Nordlichter im Süden Hessens.

Bizarr eigentlich, aber wenn man mal die Chance hat... zumal auch im Herbst 23 zumindest schon Fotos mit Nordlicht hier unten möglich waren.

Was dann geschah trotzte allen Erwartungen: der Himmel feuerte ein Spektakel ab, wie es so schnell nicht wieder passieren wird. Ich habe in dieser Nacht einige (persönliche) schöne Aufnahmen bekommen, mit dieser hier begann alles.

Als ich mit dem Fotografieren anfing war es noch zu hell, aber nach der ersten 360° Runde kam das Nordlicht schon zum Vorschein.

Home in a different light

It was probably no longer a big secret on the evening of 11.5.24 that the Northern Lights would be visible. When I received the news at 7pm that the solar storm was “just hitting”, my first thought was “great, when it gets dark, the show will be over”.
!!! But !!!
It's only over when it's really over.

That evening I stuck to my guns, packed my things and looked for a nice place
- this lake, pond or pool, you can argue -
and waited there for the northern lights in the south of Hesse.

Bizarre really, but if you ever get the chance... especially as photos with northern lights were at least possible down here in fall 23.

What happened next defied all expectations: the sky fired off a spectacle that will not happen again so quickly. I got some (personal) beautiful shots that night, this one started it all.

When I started shooting it was still too bright, but after the first 360° round the northern lights started to show up.
