A special Birthday gift for my friend in fc who definitely collects lighthouses all over Europe ;-)

Our congratulations, Eddie!

Built 1884 to 1892, providing service from January 1983 on, about 10m above ground, 32m above Atlantic Sea level.
Refurbished 1921 (water cisterne), 1954 (acetylen gas replaced former oil), electric energy from 1976 on, but lightsource gas used until 1983 when refurbished with a combined heat exchanger; 1992 connected to GISMAN (with Farol da Cabo de Sao Vicente); end of June 2001 latest technical update: change from red light to bright white light - which provides until now an operating distance of 16 nautic miles - equals 30 km
The lighthouse keeper still resides in the lighthouse, we saw the laundry drying ;-)
