Hyacinthine Macaw

it is called in its native Brazil.

With its cobalt blue plumage, it is probably the most impressive of all parrots and, at 1m, also the largest of all parrots and the second heaviest.

Food: seeds, nuts from Licuri palms and hard-shelled fruit
Character: gentle, intelligent, even-tempered
Enemies: humans through wild capture and habitat restriction

Because of their beautiful plumage, hyacinth macaws are highly sought after as ornamental birds, and it is not surprising that their population is highly endangered.

Hyacinthine macaws are native to South America (Brazil, Paraguay). Their habitat is the tropical rainforests. They prefer forests with a large population of palm trees. They are sociable birds that live in small family groups (several pairs with their young).

Wegen ihres schönen Gefieders sind Hyazintharas als Ziervögel sehr begehrt, und es ist nicht verwunderlich, dass ihr Bestand stark gefährdet ist.

Hyazintharas sind in Südamerika (Brasilien, Paraguay) heimisch. Ihr Lebensraum sind die tropischen Regenwälder. Sie bevorzugen Wälder mit einem großen Bestand an Palmen. Sie sind gesellige Vögel, die in kleinen Familiengruppen (mehrere Paare mit ihren Jungen) leben.
