In Old Pontresina

[For best viewing, please select F11 Full Screen Mode and size as needed.]

Even with the celebrated "Champagne Climate” of the south-facing mountain slopes of the Upper Engadine region in
Switzerland’s southeastern canton of Graubünden, the usually sunny town of Pontresina will get the occasional cloudy day.

And while the surrounding peaks of the Bernina Range will temporarily surrender their imposing majesty to a misty shroud,
there are inviting motifs for the photographer in the narrow streets of Old Pontresina with its distinctive Upper Engadin
architecture, enlivened by bursts of color from the ever-present floral window-boxes.

This photograph was made on Agfachrome-100 slide film, during the only overcast day
of a late September quintessentially “Champagne” first visit to the Upper Engadin.

The photo is available in matted gallery prints and as a Custom Printed Photo Note Card.

PONTRESINA - am Fusse des Berninamassivs gelegen, ist das Dorf mit dem grandiosen Blick auf die höchsten Gipfel der Ostalpen ein Paradies für Bergsteiger und Wanderer.

two literally "animated" houses involved in an intimate neighborly conversation, it seems ; )). love the "flowery belly" of the left and the "outgoing", social stairsteps of the right, and even their foreheads – roofs, i mean ; )) – seem to be touching! must feel so nice and sheltered to sit on that bench, smell the flowers, listen to the thoughts and murmurs of the old houses and glance up at the blue sky from time to time… a very beautiful "old world place" and shot of it, steve! greetings, sabine.
