i witnessed this scene in spring 1994 and made the pastel drawing later. the shepherd slaughtered the newborn lamb because it was abandoned by the mother. it seems a fitting drawing to show on karfreitag, the day another perfect innocent lamb was sacrificed for us.

Ein Bild mit einer starken, emotionalen Wirkung.Erdig und kraftvoll die Farben.
Es gehört Mut dazu, solch ein Motiv zu zeichnen.
Das Gesicht des Schäfers ist ausdruckslos geschäftig, die Hände tun entschlossen ihr Werk.
Ich bin sehr beeindruckt von deinem Bild.

well, well, they say they go on a fast on Good Friday to honour the sacrifice. In germany they usually fast with a bif fish. great sacrifice. In our (originally catholic) family we used to eat vegetarian on that dayI think the pastel is pretty good, Wenke
