PLAYING WITH SNAKES
I live right by the Bronx Zoo, so I go there a lot. Lately, I've been trying - and I do mean trying! - to photograph snakes...not so much because they are beautiful or interesting, but as a photographic/technical problem. The snakes are in these dark displays behind thick glass, usually with just one harsh overhead light. So it's very hard to get decent exposure & contrast. And for those of you who have tried this, while it may look to the unaided eye that they are not moving, they are! I lost many photos that I've shot on a tripod with time exposures and believe me, it's not my lens or focusing...these animals are moving almost imperceptably (sp?). I posted another one recently, which is a first draft called 'Snake Eyes'. Both of these are unretouched in PS & would welcome your comments and/or techniques to make them better.
