is this foto at the Tehachapi Loop Area, California:
11 Locomotives in front are pulling an Eastbound Freight Train,ca. 2 km long with four engines in the middle and three engines at the end as Helpers...
This was the Train with the highest numbers of Locomotives
for one single Freight Train
I have seen in the USA during my several visits over a Period of
10 years...
Any of these Lokomotives were pulling,
No "dead engine" just for transfer in this special case.. !
..amazing, yes, indeed....

Well, congratulations for this amazing rake of different engines(with all the different liveries BNSF had to offer), but, even in the US surely not all the engines will be needed to supply sufficient power for the train, so this might be only a demand for shifting engines to the east where they were needed for more trains westward.Best regards,
