The oven in the yard

In past years, in the villages, the oven was one of the most useful utensils in the household armoury. Really the epicenter of all daily activities securing bread and the minimum of cooking for survival as electricity was scanty or non existing. Quite often, due to lack of space to accomodate it inside, it was located in the yard...
In the photo, one of these , rests now almost unatended and seldom used only for special occasions and festivities and when nice weather makes it a pleasant activity. Yet, locals insist that bread and a lot of pies are much more tasty prepared in such an oven.....
