Vanishing America - Factories
The "Rust Belt" of the North, once thriving areas of manufacturing are slowly dying out. Cities that had heavy industry are trying to find ways to "re-invent" themselves. The push is towards attracting technology companies but the northern climate with its cold, snow and ice makes it less desirable of an area to get people to want to move to.

Love the whole "Vanishing America" section. Very true. Very sad. Took a road trip along the old 66 last year. The old diners, the antiques stores, the road attractions, the crazy hotels, the small comunities and their people, the different smells and unique little stores, the old cars and bikes...everything is dying out. We are lucky that we can see parts of it.
