Namibia: The Walvis Bay Lagune is the single most important wetland in Southern Africa frequented by migratory birds who escape the harsh winter months of Europe.During Europe"s autumn and winter months up to 250 000 birds can be found here. Amongst them various species of flamingoes, 60-70% of the world population of plovers and 40% of the african sub-species of grebe.Recently a bird ringed 23 years ago was found at the beach, in other words it had flown from Siberia to Namibia at least 23 times. Die Walvis Bay Lagune ist einer der wichtigsten "wetlands " fuer Zugvögel im suedlichen Afrika. Viele Vögel aus Europa so weit bis Sibirien verbringen den europäischen Winter hier. Vor kurzem wurde ein Vogel, der vor 23 Jahren beringt wurde, gefunden. Er war also mindestens 23 Mal von Sibirien nach Namibia geflogen.
