I always feel bad voting contra to an image when I know that the photographer and the person recommending it have an emotional bond with the shot. However, there a few reasons why I can't see this image in the gallery. First, is the frame because it dominates the shot. Secondly, the dog has it's tongue out. I know its because he is happy, but in this photo it is almost an anti-war gesture. The major fault, in my opinion, is that there is no eye contact between the dog and the soldier and the distance between the two subjects makes me wonder if this is his dog at all.

Sorry Wim but I prefer the original title which is more objective. After all, is every soldier automatically a hero? Or: is it necessarily bad to not be a hero?
I also agree with some that, as a photo (so without the emotional backstort) this doesn't quite deliver.
