Adi Preißler war lange Kapitän des BVB, bestritt in der Oberliga West 241 Spiele und erzielte 145 Tore. Dazu kamen 22 Spiele (14 Tore) in den Endrunden um die Deutsche Meisterschaft, sowie 10 Einsätze (8 Tore) im Europacup und einen Einsatz (1 Tor) im DFB Pokal. Bis heute ist Adi Preißler mit 168 Toren der Rekordtorschütze des BVB. 1949 (25 Tore) und 1950 (24 Tore) wurde er Torschützenkönig der Oberliga West. Zusammen mit Alfred Kelbassa und Alfred Niepieklo bildete Preißler ein Sturmtrio, das als Die drei Alfredos gefürchtet war.
