Along the mountain lakes

Greece
Sterea Hellas region

In one of the most remote and mountainous regions of Central Greece, where Mount Pindos raises it's imposing bulk, four big rivers converge as the result of the construction of a big artificial Dam that supplies electricity to the national grid during peaks of demand. At the time of it's construction, back in 1966 it was the largest earth filled hydroelectric project in Europe. The water that accumulated as the result of the Dam has flooded vast areas of valleys and canyons creating lakes, islands and forms of fjords of unbeleivable beauty.
Couple of years ago, cruising at that area, I reached in the evening to a small village situated just at the bord of the biggest and most beautiful lake.
From the cafeteria of the central square, as the sun was setting, one had a breathtaking view in front of his eyes that can difficult be forgotten....The weather was mild and the few locals that were sitting in the veranda sipping their coffee were watching me with curiosity as I was preparing tripod, camera and lenses very little attracted by the grandeur of a view that was everyday taste to them. In fact, after a while they turned to continue a more interesting chat about politics they had before!..
