At Heaven's Gate
"Returning from my trip to the edge of the world, I found myself to be hopelessly lost. Supplies were running low and Wolf was limping badly. His front leg was broken and swollen, I could see his strength was failing. I didn't know what to do, he was too heavy for me to carry. We came upon this bridge, surely a sign of civilization at last, and I grabbed a quick shot. Wolf, in spite of this injuries, insisted of going first. He was determined to protect me to the last. As we crossed the bridge he seemed to get stronger and soon he was running at full speed toward the light. Just before he disappeared into the light he stopped, looked back at me and barked a single time. Then he was gone.
The light was blinding, almost as though it were at the end of a tunnel. I tired to run after wolf but my backpack and cameras slowed my progress. A voice came to me that said "Turn back son, it isn't yet time for you to join us here." The bridge vanished and I found myself standing alone on the trail. Funny, the voice sounded a lot like my Dad. Wolf, my friend and guardian, was gone. After all we'd been through together, I would have to finish my journey alone."

You are a master of words, as well, I see. This is an image I have experienced as well, the bridge was a little different, but the storyline and the mother's voice the same.Beautifully rendered, exceptionally presented and tugs at the heart strings, which produces a sweet, sweet song.
Lovely,
Robyn
