The tent served as equipment storage for the group that ran the glacier tours. Two hours after taking this picture my wife and eye were downing beer at a pub in Juneau.I wish it was more dramatic (the picture sure is.) Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Dear BruceI think I could take the 3 hours. but the thought of sleeping in a tent there doesnt agree with me :-)

Welcome Bruce this is one place I would like to see Alaska.Please send us some more of your exciting trip.This looks so impressive but I don't think I would be brave enough to stand there even though I've walked on glaciers in Canada.Cheers from Down Under.Bruce L. Bloy 14/12/2004 22:38
Thanks for the welcome. I'm very excited about finding this web site.The glacier picture was taken about 20 miles from Juneau, Alaska, It was a side trip while on a 2 week cruise to Alaska.
We were ferried to the Mendenhall Glacier by helicoper and spent three hours with a guide learning to use crampons, ice axes and moving around a truely unique landscape.
