Big Buddha in Ang Thong

The Big Buddha statue with its long Thai name „Phra Phuttha Maha Nawaminthara Sakkayamuni Si Wiset Chai Chan“ is high as 92 metres and was completed in 2008. It is the tallest statue in Thailand, the second tallest statue in Southeast Asia, and the ninth-tallest in the world.
The warshippers shown at the ground of the statue give an imagine of the high constucted Buddha image painted in gold and made of concrete.
In front is the railing as a body of a Naga snake with three heads.
The Naga in front of Buddha symbolizes the protection of the Buddha by the serpent king Mucalinda during his meditation.
In Buddhism, the central head of the Naga represents Buddha, the right Dharma and the left the monks.
