Siros, the capital of Cyklades, was an island that thrived during the Ottoman occupation.The gallant sea merchants traded all around Mediterranean,collecting considerable wealth and offering also, with their ships and money, substantial help to the Greek uprisal in 1821. Traces of their prosperity are quite evident all over the island, especially their imposing mansons that, having passed now to their descendands posession, remain closed and deserted awaiting a costly repair that is not afforded....

a fine detail capture of the elaborate wrought iron work and those old wooden doors ... black and white really brings out the textures and patterns. Sad to read about the once glorious days now so drastically changed :-(((greetings, Adele
