: )) a calm, reverent, also yearning gaze at the sea, judging the clouds, the gulls, the wind, the prospects for a good catch – will they bite today? he's a man of experience and of sane, circumspect judgement – authoritative and prudent, not a cynic, not a hurting, raging egomaniac like ahab! don't ask me why, but for some reason, i think ahab would be looking down – and quite literally so! – on the sea rather than up… but apart from all that, i really like this shot and its ingenious composition: the "upward movement" reaching all the way through the image, from port to starboard ; ), starting with the rigid pose of the old seadog captain, his hat, the clouds above him, and moving on the to the leviathan of an assistant or colleague… in any case it's an image that triggers volumes and volumes of fish story in an old fischkopp* like me… ; ) greetings, sabine.

I like it very much, it conveys a very special feeling to me, The contrast between young and old is impressive.

I was reading the book quite often and I liked Gregory Peck in the movie from (guess) 56.
