Chora of Patmos 3

Greece Aegean Sea Patmos(Dodecanese)
Patmos is just a tiny bit of a land in Aegean Sea belonging to the Dodecanese plexus. The island is inhabited since the Bronze era and received influences of various civilizations as all the Aegean islands. Prehistoric and Classical Greece, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, Ottoman periods succeeded each other on the island all leaving their traces...
The Chora(capital) Of Patmos is constructed at the feet of the imposing monastery of St John. Herself a notorious merge of various influences and architectural rythms through time, competes with modesty and respect with her strong rival, the religious history of the island. The first houses have been constructed there in 14th century and their walls are considered among the most solid in Aegean. The whole town is a real labirynth of narrow streets and angles.
The photos shows a narrow street and the solid construction of the houses.
