Chorten in the middle of the desert
Lama Buddhism is the state religion in Mongolia and is represented everywhere. Also on the path through the desert steppe we encountered this stupa and the prayer wheels in order to sink into meditation for a few minutes.
Lamaism (from Tibetan Lama = the upper one), also called Tantric Buddhism, was and is the main religion of the Mongols. It developed in Tibet from Mahayana Buddhism, the doctrine of the Great Wheel, and in the process absorbed numerous elements of the pre-Buddhist Bon religion, in which shamans, gods and spirits play a major role.
