Cockfighting pavillon at Pengerebongan

In this pavilion behind the line of temple-goers, cockfights are still traditionally held. None of the protests have had any effect so far.

I have deliberately not included any photos of cockfights here because I am an absolute opponent of this tradition, which unfortunately is still held in Bali.

The Pangerebongan festival is always associated with a cockfight. People explain to me that the festival would be unthinkable without this event. Although cockfights have been illegal nationwide in Indonesia for many years, they are still held at such events without the police being able to intervene.
