Cockleroy Hill (from the east)

Behind a forest, the Cockleroy rises gently to 278m / 912ft; more of a hill than a munro. On the southwest side it is a bit steeper. It's worth the short climb though, as the views here again have a lot to offer, although it's still lower than Cairnpapple Hill at 312m / 1024ft.

Before climbing, I met an Englishman who had moved to Linlithgow for decades. We had a long, nice conversation and he told me, among other things, that he hiked up the Cockleroy regularly. Incidentally, the tree shown here can also be found in the next picture, in addition to a gate and a reforestation area.

Hinter einem Wald erhebt sich der Cockleroy sanft auf bis zu 278m / 912ft; eher ein Hügel als ein Munro. An der Südwestseite gibt er sich etwas steiler. Der kurze Aufstieg lohnt sich aber, denn die Aussicht hat auch hier wieder viel zu bieten, obwohl er noch niedriger als der Cairnpapple Hill mit 312m / 1024ft ist.

Vor dem Ersteigen traf ich noch einen zugereisten Engländer, der schon jahrzehntelang in Linlithgow lebt. Wir hatten ein langes, nettes Gespräch und er erzählte unter anderem, dass er den Cockleroy regelmäßig hinauf wandere. Den hier abgebildeten Baum kann man übrigens, neben einem Gatter und einem Aufforstungsgebiet, auch im nächsten Bild finden.
