Common Heath

Common Heath is a small moth that inhabits mostly heaths and open woodland and can sometimes be spotted in the morning or at dusk.

Its colours are variable, ranging from warm yellow brown to dark brown, but also bands and spots can be very different.
Typical for the males are the comb-like antennae (see picture).

Common Heath is very shy, easily disturbed and disappears as quickly as he came.
I spotted him on a piece of undeveloped sandy wasteland.
By the grey weather and dull background, it’s not really a top capture but I’m glad I could shoot him.
