Und dann brach der Teufel aus. DIe Löwen des Acacia-Rudels rannten plötzlich 500 oder 1000 Meter um dann wieder ins Schleichen zu verfallen. Sie hatten es auf ein Gnu abgesehen. Und unser Guide Sammy hat es richtig vorhergesehen.
Im Endeffekt blieb diese Jagd erfolglos (Löwen sind nur in etwa einem Drittel aller Jagden erfolgreich).
Experten streiten sich noch darüber, ob das wirklich Teamwork ist oder Zufall, aber ich hatte jedenfalls den Eindruck, dass es eine geplante Aktion war. Dabei waren die Weibchen des Rudels federführend.

And then all hell broke loose. The lions of the Acacia pride suddenly ran 500 or 1,000 meters, only to resume stalking mode. They had their sights on a wildebeest. And our guide Sammy anticipated it correctly.
Ultimately, this hunt was unsuccessful (like two thirds of all lion hunts).
The experts are still debating whether lions cooperate or whether it's all left to chance. I, for one, had the impression that it was a planned and coordinated action. And it was the females who took the lead.
