Corvus Corax - the Kings of Mistrels life at Passionskirche Kreuzberg

Norbert "Norri" Drescher
Corvus Corax is the most famous band from Germany, who is playing the special sound of Neo-Medieval music.
We met the guys at the soundcheck and a few ours later in the evening for the concert in Berlin Kreuzberg. The location was perfect selected, cause the Passionskirche was builded in the years from 1905 to 1908 in style of neoromanic. All their instruments and bizzare costumes are handmade.
The "Organistrum" - Hurdy-Gurdy is replicated like the 2 originals in Italy,Santiago de Compostella. The world biggest hand organ.
The band is playing on 'Festivals, like "Wacken Open Air" or "Wave Gothic Treffen" and many many more...
The most famous project from the band is called "Cantus Buranus".A full-length opera set to the original Carmina Burana manuscript lyrics. The music for the opera was fully composed by the band and had no connection with the famous work by Carl Orff. It was performed with symphonic orchestra, choir and medieval ensemble, combining traditional symphonism with medieval minstrel-like melodies.
