Die bettlerin aus Ungarn...

There is a little story behind this photo, that I wish to share...
This portrait was taken in Rottweil on a photography outing with a friend of mine. Outside the church, where there were other lonely and homeless people, sat this poor lady from Hungary who unfortunately could speak no German... she was totally penniless and desperate to see her son - the sadness she was feeling was written all over her face.
The thing that really upset us however, was that a 'Church Warden' came out 'shooing' her away, as if she were some kind of insect or something...
My friend stood up for the beggar boldly, saying that he was giving her some money and that the church should never turn away somebody in need... that he knows what the bible states. The 'Church Warden' looked very guilty and carried on about his business, leaving the beggar alone.
What has the world come to when a member of the church has no charity for the needy??? Shocking I think...

I feel very proud of my dear friend for helping this poor woman, and I trully hope that she will find a way to be reunited with her son in time for Christmas...
