Molivos, a small fish village
a different kind of visitors in the Greek islands
Molivos is a small and peaceful fish village in the south coast of the island of Lesbos with a maze of little streets all of them emptying in cafes and tavernas by the shore where, in addition to a marvellous sea for swim, ouzo and mezes are amply provided till early morning...
Under the latest developments and totally unexpected, I very much doubt if calm and peace still exist in this place. Lesbos is in close vicinity to the Turkish coast and this island was the first- and not the last- to accept the main bulk of Middle East refugees and in majority of cases also rescue them from the waves after their boats were deliberately sunk by the merchant smugglers in order to wash them out in the greek shores.
Presently, a great load of these refugees is still floating among the locals struggling for further exit to greek mainland and central Europe. And, definitely, refugees are not tourists!... And not as easy to help all of them.
In Greece we have an old saying: "What may come in an hour may not come in a year...!"

Poor Lesbos.More than a million in a little more than half a year in my country. And there's more to come.

An excellent scene as always, but the story of those refugees... heartbreaking and yet how do they think that other countries such as your own can cope with them all. Then they wish to travel all over europe...... and it seems... especially to the UK. Why for goodness sake..... What have we got that they want... OH... I just remembered, the 'Social'...... getting money for nothing. Not their fault... more the fault of the powers that be here.........
:))

calm and idyllic this view ... and beautiful your capture of this old street and houseswith their purple shutters - I find it hard to imagine how your country can cope with
all the refugees .... such sad times for all involved !!!
