Dira Phuk, 4860m first over night camp

The first day we walked about seven hours and 23 km and we finally reached Dira Phuk, a pilgrims camp and a monastery on the other side of the Lha Chu river.
Since we are traveling in the most remote part of the world. Most of time we will be away from modern civilization. In this altitude we were lucky about a simple butter tea and tsampa, the Tibetan staple foodstuff.
This is the point where the Swiss geologist Augusto Gansser secretly captured the famous picture of the Kailash peak in 1936 (A Mountain in Tibet, by Charles Allen).

My picture was captured in May 2004 with Kodachrome 25 ASA and scanned with NIKON CoolScan V ED
