Doel, Belgium

a small ghost town in Belgium where the residents packed up and left. At least that seems to be the case in Doel, a 700-year-old village that is home to one of Belgium’s two nuclear power plants and located on the Schelde in northern Belgium. After the government decided to expand the nearby Antwerp harbor, officials scheduled the village for demolition and ordered residents to vacate their homes to make room for development.
