Entrance door into the middle yard of the temple
Kurjey Lhakang Monastery, is located in the Bumthang valley in the Bumthang district. This is the final resting place of the remains of the first three kings of Bhutan. The temple was built in the 17th century by Chogyal Minjur Tempa, the First Governor of Trongsa who also served as the First Temporal ruler.
The door is leading to the holy yard inside. It was closed and we hadn't access to the holy place.
(The foto captured in April 2000 during my third tour in Bhutan the transnational highway from Paro in the west to Sandrup Jongkhar in eastern Bhutan the borderline to Asaam in India. Scanned with NIKON CoolScan V ED.)
