Face of Barong in old tradition
The Barong mask is a means of both giving the spirit tangible form and harnessing its energy. Stored in the Taman Ayun temple, the mask is brought out on special occasions and asked to bestow blessings on the community or restore the balance of cosmic forces.
This time the Barong was placed inside the entrance hall, along with a full body costume, in ceremonial procession and theatrical events.
This mask was made in the old Balinese tradition with the natural hair in the middle, with old rice corns, and the corns of soya bans, the fibre grass of the rice plants left and right and seven money coins around the face.
