Faded Dreams 4 # 14
William's diet consists of many pills. He was in the car that crashed heading to visit his mother who was in the process of passing three thousand miles away.
HIs mother's passing was just a small problem, he was the the third son out of fourteen children.
One day his mother said she can't afford to keep the large family together. Being he was one of the oldest the four children left the south and headed to the promise land. "Go west young man". The idea of a New world felt good. He changed his age and re entered Hollywood high school and rebuilt his life. He graduated and entered the University of Northridge in California and majored in Political science and got as far as to get on the Los Angeles Junior council board. This was an academic position that holds a great feature.
The question is what went wrong, besides no money to continue his education.

Funny thing is I look into his eyes and see an intelligent man waiting to come out ?Life is cruel, some walk down one street and win the lottery others never know happiness at all.

After the suggestive introdution in # 1 - 3 we surely have an idea what you believe about what went wrong and whom to blame. And I confess that, based on the story, that seems to be obvious. In life, however, things tend to be quite complicated.
For me, that's the big drawback of photojournalism. It is so strong and its so simplistic and suggestive. To tell William's story it would require a book. And if it wasn't written by John Irving or a famous multi-pulitzerish Journalist, hardly anybody would read it. Those who read it will have forgotten within a couple of days.
Who knows anything about what happend in Trang Bang 1972? But we all know the fear and horror in the face of the naked girl.

My father was the 13th and last child... born in germany, and left for the depression, acute poverty (before the war II) to the USA
