First Snow
This image was taken in Chery Valley Illinois, (very small town near Rockford, IL) I was on my way to the office and I decided to grab my camera before I left. I got a few other decent shots that I will post. This image was taken to simply practice the zone system.
Camera: Canon 1D MkII
Lens: L17-40 f4
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Apature: 5.6
ISO: 100
White Bal: set to about 7200 K
Focal Length: 33mm
Light Meter: Sekonic 508Z set to spot meter
Other comments: I used the rocks as my base reading and put them in zone 3. Then I measured the shadows in the snow and tried to place them in zone 5 and the whitest snow in sone 7. Luckly, my readings fell into place with the chosen exposure values.
Thats about all I can say about it :)

You got this very well, I can imagine that the exposure wasn't very easy to do. By the way: can you explain this zone system to me?Donna Vitkauskas 07/12/2004 18:30
